Throughout Stormy

Boarding the vessel from the convenient side door, note the wrap around side decks providing a safe and protected area to handle lines ,and move about the yacht. Moving aft the spacious cockpit, complete with a full enclosure, provides a comfortable outdoor space and access to the flybridge. 

The wide stairs to port create a safe way to ascend the flybridge. The tender is stored aft and athwart the deck with a crane for launching stowed to starboard. Forward is a U-shaped settee and an enclosed space for helming or lounging out of the weather. 

Back down on deck enter the salon through the double sliding doors, and into the well laid out seating area with a custom L-shaped settee to port and twin bucket seats to starboard, all with storage underneath. The galley is midships to port with generous counter space and lots of storage. Adjacent the galley is the lower helm station with opening door on the starboard side.

Forward of the helm is a stairway down into the sleeping accommodations. To port is the guest cabin and to starboard is the guest head and shower. Moving forward is the private master cabin with its own ensuite head and shower.

Accommodations

Stormy features a two stateroom layout. 

Moving forward down the steps in the teak finished hallway, the guest cabin is to port. There are two single berths running athwartship with teak storage drawers underneath and a large, cedar-lined hanging locker between these berths. There is an overhead hatch, porthole, and two pull out clothes lines. t

The guest head is opposite, to starboard. There is a freshwater Vacu-flush toilet, Corian counter top, and opening porthole. A private full shower stall also houses the combo washer/dryer, located inside the adjacent cabinet.

Forward is the main stateroom with an island queen berth, lowboy with teak chair and six drawer bureau. The overhead hatch and opening portholes allow for plenty of light. The private ensuite head is located to port and has a large shower stall with a freshwater Vacu-flush toilet, Corian counter tops, sink, and plenty of storage.

Salon

The double sliding doors at the aft cockpit create a feeling of bringing the outside in while the L-shaped settee and hi-low table are a traditional Grand Banks element. There are four opening salon windows along with 2 Barrel chairs opposite the teak hi-low table.

Galley

The L shaped galley to port is well appointed with plenty of stowage overhead and under-counter. There is also large dinnerware stowage compartments forward, a three burner electric stove with oven along with updated fridge/freezer drawers. Only two of the three stove top burners are operational. A portable one burner induction unit was installed and is included in the sale. The longer term plan was to replace the existing stove top with a new induction system, but the decision to sell Stormy has paused this plan.

Flybridge

Accessed via the cockpit stairway there is a L-settee with stowage below and a teak table. Forward are dual bench seats, fore and aft facing with stowage. The strata glass full enclosure offers complete weather protection, the dedicated helm seat offers a commanding view.

2023 Service Summary

The current owners bought Stormy in early 2023, and although the engine inspection uncovered only minor issues, they wanted a reliable clean slate with which to start their ownership. The following is a summary of this rather extensive service, completed in May, 2023.  

Service on Both Engines:

  • engine oil and filter change
  • gear oil and filter change
  • fuel filter change
  • Racor change
  • full cooling system service including rebuilding after coolers, gear coolers, engine oil coolers, air cleaners, chemically clean heat exchangers, new heat exchanger seals
  • rebuild both turbo chargers
  • repair fuel pumps
  • remove, service, and reinstall all injectors
  • new block heaters
  • new impellers
  • reassemble all removed serviced parts and apply 3 coats white paint, reinstall
  • clean flanges, assemble and reinstall coolers and heat exchangers
  • new seals and o-rings where needed
  • clean and reinstall both exhaust mixing elbows
  • install new mixing elbow water injection fittings
  • new silicon hoses where needed
  • new coolant

Generator Service:

  • new exhaust hose
  • new exhaust air valve
  • mount genset silencer
  • repair and clean heat exchangers, install new end caps
  • new oil and filter
  • new Racor and secondary fuel filters

Other Mechanical Service:

  • new seal kit on Reverso oil pump
  • disassemble bow thruster and rebuild with new bearings, lip seals, shims
  • epoxy repair thruster tube
  • relocate and seal transom anode studs
  • remove and rebuild stabilizer oil cooler
  • service water maker, replace all filters, clean strainer
  • new wipers
  • repair leak on starboard washer spray nozzle
  • replace broken compression fitting on horn compressor

Running Gear Service:

  • decouple drive shafts and remove shafts and props
  • replace cutlass bearings with new
  • reinstall shafts and props
  • clean and reinstall drive shaft line cutters
  • install new shaft seals
  • align rudders and adjust sender
  • inspect steering cylinder for leaks
  • clean and inspect trim tab cylinders

Electrical Service:

  • replace panel light
  • install new AC outlet in engine space
  • new junction box for block heaters
  • new GFCI outlet to flybridge
  • new smoke detector
  • new CO2 detectors in main and guest cabins
  • check continuity
  • replace bonding wire between sea strainers
  • drill, tap, and install new bonding wire from new exhaust fitting to exhaust thru-hull fitting

Tender Service:

  • remove, clean, and reseal bow eye
  • change engine and gear oil
  • new zincs
  • replace fuel primer hose
  • repair keel protection
  • remove old glue, clean and prep for new
