Grand Yachts Inc is honoured to offer this premium Tolly 53 motor yacht for sale. Another Summer’s current owners have had numerous cruising yachts throughout their lives, culminating with this 53-foot pilothouse, which they have owned and cherished for almost twenty years.
As a result of the continuous care, maintenance, and update regimen, Another Summer is a classic yacht with modern furnishings, and unsurpassed dependability. She compares very favourably with yachts half her age or newer. This is a proven Ed Monk design that is supremely comfortable at anchor, and capable and dependable in a sea way.
Specific options make this fine yacht more comfortable and self sufficient:
Significant investments have been made in smart, substantial updates, professionally completed, ensuring reliability for new owners, perhaps for another twenty-plus years.
Details follow, but think
After almost two decades of family cruising, it is time to let new owners enjoy all that Another Summer has given this family.
Board from a dock or a tender to the extended swim platform, with grab rails and protective staples, then up a step to the cockpit.
Another Summer is a spacious yacht featuring a broad full beam salon, with the galley and lower helm station up just three stairs. Stairs from the starboard side decks go up to the flybridge. And stairs to starboard of the lower helm lead down to the accommodations area with three staterooms, two heads, and laundry.
A companionway leads down from the starboard side of the pilothouse and galley area to the accommodations foyer. There is a guest cabin to port, a VIP cabin forward, and a midships master cabin is just aft.
The port and forward guest cabins share the guest head, and there is an ensuite head to the master cabin. Each head has a proper shower stall.
Laundry is located in a locker in the accommodations foyer.
Master Stateroom
The master stateroom is the full beam of the boat, with an island queen berth. The newly upholstered headboard, footboard, and settee compliment each other. The space is complete with bedside tables, lamps, hanging lockers, a vanity, and a bureau of drawers.
Master Head
There is an ensuite head, private to the stateroom, with a generous shower stall.
VIP Stateroom Forward
The forward VIP stateroom has an island queen berth, plenty of natural light, abundant storage, and its own private entry to the guest head with shower stall.
Port Guest Stateroom
The port stateroom features two bunks, with a lee board to the upper bunk for security, should a child be using this bunk. There is a bureau with a storage, and storage drawers under the lower bunk.
Guest / Day Head
The guest / day head is to starboard, across from the guest cabin. It is generous in size, with a separate shower stall.
From the cockpit, enter double teak doors to the salon, which is the full beam of the boat. Large settee to port, with complimentary club chair, finished in full grain graphite leather. To starboard is a bureau of storage lockers, the bar, and the entertainment centre.
The salon is gorgeous - finished throughout in teak joinery, and wrapped with teak valances, accent lighting, horizontal wood blinds, new window treatments, new carpet, with extra-heavy soundproofing underlay, new headliners, updated entertainment centre, and newly rebuilt and upholstered settee. It is a warm inviting space that can be intimate for two, and yet has room for a not-so-small party.
Details throughout the yacht are purposeful, and yet subtle; the teak entry doors have large windows, with the same proportions as the salon windows, resulting in a congruous view to the sea scape outside.
On the [port side of the salon, there is a wing door to the exterior side decks, and three steps up to the galley and pilothouse with the lower helm station.
The galley is midships, at the same level as the lower helm. It is U-shaped with all the appliances and working space needed for the onboard chef.
Also finished in teak, with new counters, new appliances, new flooring, opening window, and plenty of storage including a large bureau to starboard.
The pilothouse, being on the same level as the galley, is a second central focus point for all on board. There is a round settee to port, with black leather upholstery, surrounding a large dining table, a centreline helm with controls close at hand, a starboard side door to the side decks, a storage bureau to starboard, with new counter top matching the galley, and stairs down to the accommodations. AC and DC panels with breakers, and with intuitive and reliable electrical systems controls and monitoring. New Brazilian hardwood flooring.
The flybridge is easily accessed via the starboard pilothouse door to the side decks, and up gently sloped stairs. It is fully enclosed with beefy stainless steel framing, and new Sunbrella fabric and windows (2023). Visibility to all sides is excellent, particularly useful in close quarters and bustling harbours. The electronics console houses an array of engine controls, instrumentation, and navigation equipment.
The flybridge is the full beam of the upper deck, and can comfortably host a small crowd. The L-shaped table is surrounded by a large settee, with storage under. There is a BBQ, ice-maker, two helm chairs (new 2023), and access aft to the boat deck.
Aft of the flybridge is the working area of the upper deck, which carries the tender, and davit system.
The cockpit has high bulwarks for added security, a storage locker to port, and is spacious enough for a quiet morning coffee at anchor. The side decks and foredeck are accessed on starboard via the pilothouse door, and on port via the wing door from the salon.
The teak clad cockpit is in excellent condition. The exterior brightwork was sanded to bare wood and new coats of varnish built up to a high gloss. The salon doors were also sanded and revarnished (2024).
In 2018, the swim platform was extended, increasing the outdoor usable space. Also at this time, the underwater hull surface was brought down to bare gel coat, and two coats of Interlux epoxy 2000E barrier coat applied, then three coats of Micron CSC bottom paint.
In 2014, the deck and topsides were repainted in Awlgrip, it is regularly polished and waxed, and still shines as new.
110VAC, and 12VDC panels, with circuit protection, are located in the pilothouse, with appropriate AC and DC voltage and amperes gauges. The controls are well labeled, and intuitive. Part of the AC panel is devoted to lighter loads which can be powered by the inverter. AC power is provided; by shore connection, by either of two generators, or by battery through the inverter. DC power is provided by banks of batteries.
The engine room is accessed from a large cockpit hatch leading down to the storage lazarette, and the well laid out engine room. Systems access and engineering are notable, and all equipment is readily accessible for maintenance.
The lazarette has ample room for cruising gear such as spare anchors, rode, lines, fishing gear, and fenders. The chest freezer is in the lazarette.
Move forward from the lazarette to enter the engine room, which has plenty of room for all needed machinery systems, spares and tools.
Motive power is by twin Caterpillar C8.7 diesel engines at 640 hp. These are inline 6 cylinder common rail engines using the latest diesel technology for industry leading torque and throttle response at low speeds, while maintaining fuel efficiency at higher speeds. These engines are Tier III EPA compliant, efficient, quiet, and smoke free in all conditions.
