The Gorbon 53 has a 2-cabin layout. Satin varnished cherry wood and solid mahogany sole throughout. The main cabin is situated forward with an island queen berth. The second cabin, midships has two single berths. Both cabins have beautiful cherry cabinetry. hanging lockers and ample storage space with book shelves and drawers.
The Pilothouse settee has a pull-out which makes a double berth.
The main cabin has an ensuite fresh water electric head with a separate shower stall and wet locker. Both heads have Vetus 24v fresh water electric heads and are plumbed into a 35 gal holding tank with TankWatch gauges. The head sinks are plumbed to a 35 gal grey water tank. Black water tanks can be accessed under the floor boards in the galley.
The second freshwater electric head is located midships to starboard and it has a Y-valve discharge.
LED lighting and dimmers. Hella fans in both cabins.
The pilothouse salon is one of the many outstanding features of the Gorbon 53. Easy access from cockpit through the walk-in door. No hatch boards to step over or a steep companionway to navigate.
It is fitted with a large L-shaped settee which has a pullout that can convert it into a bed, drop leaf dining table with drawers at each end and storage underneath, and a navigation and communications centre. There is ample storage area under all the salon seating.
Satin varnished cherry wood joinery. The ceiling is painted bead board with cherry beams. The cabin sole is constructed from solid mahogany varnished planking. Overhead lamps with dimmer switches and night lighting feature throughout. 2 Hella cabin fans, and 16,000 BTU reverse cycle heat/air for comfort year-round.
The salon helm station has engine controls, joystick, bow thruster controls, navigation equipment and a Stidd helm chair. Access to the generator space, fuel manifold system and other ship's systems
Step down from the pilothouse, amidships to the U-shaped galley.
Granite counter tops, SS sink and faucet. Storage cabinets and drawers as well as storage under the steps.
Cooking options include a GE Space Saver microwave and a Force Ten 3 burner propane stove and oven. Frigoboat fridge with SS front and a Frigoboat SS drawer freezer
To access the foredeck, there are 2 fixed steps from the cockpit and a well positioned grab rail on the coach roof to help make a safe transition along the uncluttered side decks.
The helm stations are placed forward of the cockpit seating which gives the helmsman great visibility all around including through the pilothouse, as well as being safer “centre cockpit”.
The U-shaped cockpit seating provides comfortable, spacious seating up to 10 with a large teak cockpit table with folding leaves and a cover. All electronics, winches and sheets are within easy reach of the helmsman. Elk hide cover on both wheels. The engine is easily accessed through two wide hatches in the cockpit floor.

3 Large cockpit lockers to port, starboard and aft provide a luxury of storage space.
The foredeck locker is large and light and allows easy access to the bow thruster, thruster and windlass batteries, battery charger, anchor chain and spare ground tackle.
The Gorbon 53 was designed as performance cruiser yet easy to manoeuvre. All sheets and lines lead aft to the sides of the cockpit, and there is great visibility from all 3 comfortable helm stations.
Layout of the lines to the electric winches together with the furling boom plus self-tacking jib, make it easy to sail single or short handed.
Sails
All sails are 2008 and from Hallett Canvas and Sail, Falmouth, ME
12 , 24 and 120 Volt systems. using the highest grade tinned wire throughout. An Onan generator and an inverter supplies 120V plus a 50amp Glendinning Cable Master shore power cord. The master circuit breaker panel is located in the PH.
Both compartments are huge with lots of space to move around. The 220Hp Yanmar engine with a cruising speed of 8-9 knots is accessed directly through two wide opening hatch doors in the cockpit floor. The engine compartment contains 110v outlets, 12v engine starting battery, Balmar 24V 70amp alternator, Newmar 24V-12V converter, PSS shaft seal, dual racor cross-over fuel system and fresh water spigot. A Fireboy system is in both in the engine and genset compartment..
