Built to meet a sepcific need using high grade marine aluminum, you will find this boat strong and robust, and showing no signs of corrosion. Step aboard through a side gate onto a spacious covered aft deck. The decks are surrounded with full plated bulwarks 24" high, with 24" stanchions reduced to 15" in the bow, 6"X2" tapered to 3"X2" at the top and capped with flatcar and 1 1/4" pipe railing for a total height of 39" for a very safe feeling. Around the bow the plate is right to the top of the railing to help deflect any spray
Welded aluminum hull and house works to commercial standards with a flush deck, carvel, single hard chine hull. The hulls built with a very slight "V" bottom with a tunnel stern to help maintain a shallow draught and a very good stability. In 1995 a 4' extension of the aft deck was added to the transom and plate bulwarks with 2"x3" stanchions were included around it.
The aft cockpit the bulwarks have working components with a gate to the full width 4' swim grid which is hinged to the transom and can be raised when cruising. A ladder through a hatch leads to the top deck, used for storage of traps or paddle boards or any other thing marine you can use. There is good access to navigation aids, the ships mast, and the working boom on the foredeck.
Along the side deck on the starboard side is access door to the main salon and aft galley, here you will see the current upgrades, as the galley equipment, walls and flooring plus ceiling have all been replaced and renewed. Plenty of side windows to let in all the light you will want. Under the galley floor is a hatch to a full basement storage area, used for food or other dry goods if you are on a long trip. Forward mid ships are the stairs to the pilot house. here you find a very well laid out plan, plenty of windows for good all around visibility, easy layout of all instruments, nice large settee across the back bulkhead for guest or first mate. Two side doors open up for full air circulation if you want this.
To the right of the stairs to the pilothouse is the starboard side companion way leading to the accommodation. Here we find the door to the engine room, stand up room, centre engine with good access to all the new systems, batteries, generator, inverters etc. You will find the side walls insulated and the bilge is clean and dry. This is a dry stack exhaust system and a keel cooled engine. You will also find a full work bench with a vice, and space for your tools.
Forward along the companionway is the master stateroom, here it is newly recommissioned, new mattress, lighting etc. Storage under the bed, large hanging closet, one side window that opens for fresh air.
Forward again is another stateroom, this one is still under refit and is not quite finished, used to be a bunk room, but they have been removed, but if you need more beds perhaps they could be rebuilt. Full double size bed, new mattress with hydraulic lift to get to under the bed storage. The ships head is off this room, new vacuum-flush toilet system, full stand up tiled shower, tiled vanity, heated towell rack, New floors to make this room new and clean and fresh.
The whole interior of the boat is heated with a Hurricane hot water system, which will keep you out all year.
On the deck forward of the wheelhouse you have an extensive trunk cabin, over the accommodation. Here is the working end of the boat. Mast and boom, now used for the tender but originally designed to load and unload freight. You will find the roof of the trunk cabin is re-enforced with a separate deck plate to allow for heavy objects to sit on and be tied down. All the boom lifting is done by hydraulic winches. We also have easy access to the anchor windlass which is also hydraulic with plenty of chain and rode.
When this boat was built it was for commercial purposes, there fore we find applications that normally would not show up on a boat this size, such as an external fire hose and pump system. tow post on the aft deck, fairleads for a tow line Hand winch for the stern tie up line. Full flopper stoppers for stability in a seaway, Not to be taken away form its current use, this boat has a multiple use applications.
The galley has two side opening sliding doors and is split into two parts by the port door.
Four steps up from main saloon. full width of superstructure with windows all around for great visibility and two sliding side doors for ventleation. Split settes across back bulkhead.
All the accommodations have been reconditioned since 2013, new floors, paneling, layouts, plumbing, heads, lighting, ceilings, heating, windows re-set, totally different look as to when this ship was built.
When you enter the main salon and galley you will instantly see a warm and inviting room. Easy stairs up to the pilothouse or down to the staterooms. The companion way forward is on the starboard side, first door is into the engine room, in itself a well designed and workable space. Forward again to port is the master stateroom. A new double berth against the port side, new mattress, Hanging closet, and plenty of storage space under the bed. There is a good port light that opens wide for ventilation is above the bed.
Back into the companion room you move forward and turn to port where is the door to the forward stateroom and access to the main heads. The forward stateroom used to be a bunk room for four but has been converted into another stateroom which could be considered the master stateroom, double berth, overhead hatch, large storage under the bed on a hydraulic lift system, reading lights. and direct access to the new and modern heads. The heads has a large tiled tub shower space, vanity and a new electronic Rarity Excellence toilet, all draining into a 40 gallon holding tank. Heated by the Hydronic furnace to the towel rack heating system. There is also a small sink in the forward stateroom. All the companion way and the two staterooms have a new engineered flooring. Both staterooms have new mattress.
Full disclosure, the forward stateroom is still a work in progress, the finishing work is not fully finished, so to meet the rest of the interior there is some work to do. including some panelling and some wood work.
This boat was Commissioned and built in 1975 in Sechelt BC. Sent to Revelstoke to work in the lake doing forestry work for 18 years. (Under the name Kinbasket Forest, and Is a current member of the Ex-Forest Service Squadron) Then privately owned on the coast where it made several trips to Alaska and back. In 1995 sold to the Canadian government, at that time it was re-powered, lengthened and re-rigged for servicing the watchmen at the new Gwaii Hannas park in the Queen Charlottes. Did this for 5 years with numerous trips across Hecate Straits. Sold again to a private dive charter company where it travelled all over the coast. Then again sold in 2013 to the current owner who under took the major system restorations and upgrades the boat needed. So back to my opening statement, how do you describe this boat, its use can be unlimited, start by been a cruising and exploring boat, live aboard, commercial freight boat, Fishing camp tender, a dive boat again, she has done all the above and will continue to do so for years to come.
The owner has scheduled a haul out in Naniamo BC. for May 11, 2021 if you are interested and would like to see her undersides let me know.
