First 45

Sold
The spectacular Beneteau First 45 was designed by Naval Architect P. Briand. The First 45 has both beauty and brawn; it has enviable, head turning lines but is built to offshore specifications. "Sea of Tranquility" is an immaculate example of the First 45 and shows like new. She has mostly been used for day sailing and never raced or chartered. "Sea of Tranquility"  is a one owner boat with full service records. The boat has been serviced since new by First Yacht Services Inc. New Interlux VC offshore bottom paint and zincs - January 2021.  Infusion-moulded deck, T-profile torpedo-bulb keel and sleek underwater hull with modern appendices. She has pure, sleek lines with a lowered coachroof. Below decks, the design is stunningly contemporary with light wood finishes and lots of natural light. The First 45 is as comfortable around a race course as she is out cruising, even short handed. We are extremely proud to present and show this boat. "Sea of Tranquility" is located on our sales dock in Vancouver, BC.

On deck

The boat is easily boarded from the transom or by way of life line gates on port or starboard aft. The cockpit is spacious and easy to move around in. Winches are well placed for easy access from within the cockpit or when at the helm. All running rigging leads aft to 2 sets of rope clutches port and starboard of companion way. Port winch is electric, which makes hauling up the main sail an easy task. Lines on the starboard cabin top can easily be routed to the port side electric winch if required. The hydraulic backstay is easily adjusted from either helm.

The deck is clear of clutter, giving the skipper a nice, clear view. There are 3 large colour ST70+ displays mounted on the mast which are easily viewed from either helm or anywhere in the cockpit. Scrolling through the ST70+ mast displays is made simple with the use of the ST70 display controller at the starboard helm station.

The autopilot can reliably steer the boat in offshore conditions. The robust hydraulic linear drive is paired to the Raymarine X30 Smartpilot course computer.

Boat speed is calculated using the Airmar Ultrasonic UDST800P-N2 transducer. No moving parts or paddle wheel to get fouled up.

Moving around the deck is safe with large side decks and hand holds built into the coach roof. Anchor is easy to deploy and retrieve using the remote control.

Steering the boat is super smooth. Rudder is equipped with Jefa self aligning bearings. The steering is very responsive thanks to the high aspect ratio rudder and efficient keel.

Docking is made simple with the retractable bow thruster. When not in use it retracts into the hull for protection and no drag.

The 3 blade folding propeller is powerful in forward and reverse. When sailing the propeller automatically folds to reduce drag.

Below deck

The first thing you notice when you walk down the companion way is the gradual angle of the stairs. This makes a safer and more comfortable entry. Entering the salon the interior feels very spacious with good use of natural light and light wood. The design is contemporary and very well thought out. The dark brown leather cushions add an elegant feel. The leather trim extends to the nav-seat and the leather wrapped nav-table.

The navigation station does not encroach into the salon, however the seat rotates into the salon if additional seating is required. The electrical panel is well laid out and easy to use.

The T shaped galley works extremely well with lots of counter space. Fridge and freezer are both good sizes and easy to access.

The aft head is located port-side. The head is a good size with shower stall.

Aft cabins are spacious and have a sitting area. The hanging lockers feel more like elegant luggage carriers than hanging lockers. Good storage and lockers to the centreline. There are three engine access points. One through each of the aft cabins and also through the companion way stairs.

Forward cabin is large for a 46' boat and feels spacious even with the large head and shower. A nice feature is to have access to the bed from either side. Lots of light and headroom.

Batteries are located under the floorboards forward of the engine. Good for weight distribution and easy access.
