Owning a Grand Banks classic like this will allow you the privilege of safe and sound cruising. Always known as good sea boats, with the added benefit of very economical cruising, The single Ford engine, a name very well known, will push you along at a gentle speed of 7 to 8 knots all day long and probably be burning 2 gallons an hour.
The classic layout of forward stateroom and heads, main salon with galley, lower helm, salon, then aft to the master stateroom and heads, full walk around side decks, then the flybridge with upper helm and seating for 4. This is the very successfull yacht design that Grand Banks created for all their early models, used for 32, 36 42, and 46 models, copied by many other builders but never with as much fine engineering and quality. Stepping aboard from two side gates or one off the swim grid puts you onto the safe and wide deck that goes around the whole boat. protected by high and strong hand rails, beautifully finished in teak handrails. one enters the salon from two side doors, one forward starboard by the lower helm the other port aft into the salon itself. As soon as you are inside you immediately notice the exquisit finish of a Grand Banks. Teak panels and mouldindg finished in a warm satin finish. Parquet floor, clean headliner, and of course large windows all around to look out of and to let plenty of daylight in with warm curtains for night time privacy. Forward Starboard is the lower helm, with all navigation equipment at an easy reach, to your port forward is the galley and counter space, with all needed galley equipment and storage cupboards and drawers. Behind the helm is a built in bar with storage then aft again is the "L" shapped sette and dinner table with folding leafs. seating for 4 no problem. Forward, is the companion way to the stateroom with a full V birth and filler form for a large queen size berth, Complete private head with new Vacu-FLush head and vanity sink. also a large hanging locker and storage drawers. Reading lights and over head hatch for fresh air completes this space.
Aft of the salon is the companion way down to the aft steroom, here you find a two bed configuration, double to starboard and single to port, full heads with stand up shower stall, Vacu-Flush and vanity sink, Hatch to the aft deck, drawers, and a large hanging locker to the port side. The whole interior is warm and inviting, heated by a hydronic furnace, windows and hatches for fresh air. throw rugs on the floors, curtains and fresh fabric on upholstry and pillows. Then again the warm satin finish to all the wood work.
The flybridge has four seats with storage underneath, upper helm for sunny cruising were you really get to enjoy the boat, covered by a bimni for shade, room aft for more chairs and a coffee table for more seating to enjoy the evening sunset.
The Galley is designed for genuine cruising rather than day trips or short weekends. large refrigerator/freezer provides cold storage, Princess gas three burner stove and oven, full S/S sink with plenty of hot and cold water. Storage cupboards and drawers for all your kitchen gadgets.
The classic layout allows the captain two very good choices for navigation, Lower helm on rainy days or cold times, while it still allows for great all around visibility. Then when weather permits the upper helm gives the crew the chance to sit back and enjoy all the coast has to offer. Both stations are easliy set up with proper engine guages, navigation equipment, and VHF radios all within easy reach. The electropnic package has been thoughtfully updated with Raymarine navigation equipment at both helms. Radar scanner updated in 2025. Masthead weather station also updated in 2024
This classic two cabin layout allows for space between staterooms, perfect for adult guest with each room having ensuite heads, The forward Vee berth is perfect for children but a filler mattress piece makes a large queen size bed. reading lights, and overhead lights, storage drawers and hanging closet completes the room.
The ensuite has a head, sink, and curtain shower. with mirrors and storage drawers.
The aft stateroom is full width of the hull, one side is a twin bed while the other is a single. in-between there is a set of drawers and a fold out set of steps leading to an aft hatch which greatly helps with fresh air on a hot night. the ensuite is large with a full stand up shower, head and sink with storage drawers and mirror. Reading lights and over head lights. Large hanging closet with shelfs and room for wet weather gear.
The heart of this boat is the legendary Ford Lehman 2725E diesel producing 135 HP. The single engine configuration is simple and very economical, well suited for the Grand Banks displacement hull. Shaft running through the deep keel for full protection followed by a large rudder for active steering. Aided by a bow thruster for those very close docking situations one can actually manoeuver into any place you come by. The single engine also allows for more space in the engine room where access to all onboard systems is now quite easy.
The electrical system has recieved significant modernization, including three Discouver 200AH Lithium batteries installed in June 2025, producing up to 2,000 watts and works with the Xantrex Freedom SW inverter/charging system.
A 220 AMP Powerline alternator also provides a substantial charging capability while the Victron battery monitor provides useful information on the house bank performance.
The full bonding system was replaced in 2025. the vessels electrical and mechanical systems have been maintained with an emphasis on reliability foe extended cruising.
Outdoor living on a Grand Banks, first you have wide safe teak decks, an aft deck with access to the lazarette, deep with storage ability. Picture this space with a couple deck chairs, or fishing if desired. There is a gate and step down to the swim grid for swimming or getting into a tender. Another place to relax is the spacious flybridge, besides the four bench seats you have deck space for more chairs, small table, even a cooler . Bimini top for shade.
