If you're looking for a turnkey long range trawler that has every conceivable option and upgrade, this boat is what you've been waiting for.
$um Day is an exceptionally well cared-for example of the DeFever 57. Her current owner has approached ownership with an extraordinary level of detail and diligence. He has not simply maintained the boat; he has continually improved her, renewing and upgrading systems with premium equipment throughout the vessel with an emphasis on reliability, serviceability and long-term cruising.
The extent of that work is significant. Major projects have included stripping and recoating the bottom with epoxy, replacing through-hull fittings, sea valves and associated hoses, refinishing the hull, rubrails and doors, fresh varnish on all exterior teak, and upgrading a long list of mechanical, electrical and domestic systems. The result is a yacht that has benefited from years of methodical investment rather than deferred maintenance.
That care is evident throughout the boat. The engine room is large, clean and exceptionally well organized, the machinery is accessible, and systems have been installed and maintained with an obvious eye toward practical cruising. The bow thruster is so quiet you barely hear it, but powerful enough to move the bow easily. The same standard carries through the interior, exterior decks, tender systems, electrical equipment and navigation electronics. Onboard are spares and spares for your spare -- the list is far too long to include.
The DeFever 57 itself is a remarkably capable platform. Her oversized Niad hydraulic stabilizers make for stable cruising even with seas. With a 16'6" beam, a separate pilothouse, huge salon, full-size galley, enclosed aft deck, large flybridge and substantial accommodations below, $um Day offers the living space of a much larger yacht while retaining the practical qualities that made these boats so popular with experienced cruisers.
Highlights of Sum Day include:
This is truly a yacht that has to be seen to be believed.

$um Day has unusually generous sleeping accommodations for a yacht of this length, with excellent separation between the owner and guest spaces and abundant built-in storage throughout.
The primary stateroom is accessible via a spiral staircase aft of the salon. It features a large centreline berth with room to walk around both sides, bedside cabinetry, extensive drawers and hanging lockers, a vanity/desk and additional seating. The adjoining head is spacious, with a large vanity and expansive separate shower compartment.
A stairway forward of the pilothouse lead to two guest staterooms, each with their own head. The larger of the two is arranged with twin berths separated by a central drawer unit. Forward of it is a large v-berth cabin. Additional cabinetry, hanging storage and a vanity provide ample space for extended stays aboard.
Additional accommodation features include:
The salon is bright, comfortable and very generously proportioned, with large windows along both sides and excellent natural light.
The space is arranged for relaxed living aboard, with freestanding seating, a separate dining area and extensive built-in cabinetry. Teak joinery gives the room the traditional warmth expected in a DeFever, while the large windows keep it open and inviting. The chart-plotter can be routed onto the retractable lift television.
Features include:
The galley is large, practical and exceptionally well equipped, with extensive counter space, abundant cabinetry and full-size domestic appliances. The open layout provides a comfortable working space while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding living areas.
The pilothouse is a substantial, dedicated working space with excellent visibility, direct access to both side decks and plenty of room for crew or guests while underway. A long upholstered settee provides comfortable seating behind the helm, while generous chart and work surfaces and extensive teak cabinetry make the space practical for extended cruising.
The flybridge provides a second fully equipped helm station along with generous seating and excellent visibility in every direction. A substantial bimini offers protection from the sun while keeping the space open and comfortable underway.
The decks are designed for practical cruising, with wide side decks, substantial railings and easy movement between the bow, pilothouse and aft deck. The foredeck provides a large working area for anchoring and line handling, while the swim platform gives convenient access to the water and tender. The swim platform has hookups to allow for outgoing generator power and a gasoline tank for refueling tenders.
The engine room is a standout feature: full standing headroom, excellent access around the machinery, substantial work space and systems laid out with serviceability in mind. The engines run quiet, do not smoke, and reach rated RPM at WOT.Westmar 12 inch, 25hp 24v dual prop bow thruster
