Built in Anacortes, Washington by San Juan Yachts, the SJ32 was designed to combine the performance, stability and safety of a large RIB with the weather protection and comfort of a proper pilothouse boat. The result is a fast and incredibly versatile platform that can work equally well as a commuter, fishing boat, adventure boat, yacht tender or fast coastal cruiser.
Powered by twin 300 HP Mercury Verados with Joystick Piloting and Skyhook. She cruises comfortably around 30 knots, with 50+ knot performance available when wanted.
What really separates the San Juan from most RIBs is everything around the performance. There is a fully enclosed pilothouse with four proper seats, an excellent electronics package, sleeping accommodation for two and a separate enclosed head. Add 182 gallons of fuel and you have a boat that is capable of doing considerably more than running around the harbour on a nice day.
This particular boat has also seen a good amount of recent work, with upgrades focused on cruising, fishing, electrical independence and tender use

San Juan built these boats to a very high standard using resin-infused composite construction. The hull, deck and pilothouse were built using techniques much more commonly associated with high-end composite yachts than conventional production RIBs.
Twin 2014 Mercury Verado 300 HP four-stroke outboards provide a combined 600 HP. The engines are equipped with Mercury Joystick Piloting and Skyhook, giving excellent control around docks and allowing the boat to electronically hold position when required.
The San Juan 32 was designed as a fast boat from the outset, with an economical cruising speed around 30 knots and a top end of more than 50 knots. Recent mechanical upgrades include the updated steering system along with a new trim/lift system on the port engine.
The fully enclosed pilothouse is really what separates the San Juan from a conventional RIB. It provides excellent protection in poor weather while still giving great visibility and plenty of ventilation when things warm up. This is a boat you can realistically use year-round on the West Coast rather than something that only makes sense on a nice summer day.
Recent electrical upgrades include a 200-watt solar system for the house bank and a DC-to-DC Victron charging system for the engine batteries. The Victron DC-to-DC Charging System allows the outboards to efficiently charge the house battery bank while keeping the engine start batteries isolated and works alongside the vessel’s 200W solar system. She is designed to be away from shore power indefinitely.
Forward of the pilothouse is a proper cabin with opposing bench seats that convert to sleeping accommodation for two. There is considerably more space below than you would normally expect to find on a RIB of this size.
The cockpit is large and easy to move around, with a centerline walk-through between the engines and direct access to the swim ladder. The new UltraDeck throughout has updated the look of the boat considerably while also making the cockpit more comfortable underfoot. The custom aluminum steps over the tubes are another useful addition and make getting on and off the boat considerably easier.
