Built by the Independence Cherubini Boat Company of Delran New Jersey, this Cherubini 45 pilothouse is the result of a partnership between a passionate yachting traditionalist, and a caring, custom yacht builder. This handsome yacht is a bespoke and robust build that has been well cared for, is well-optioned, offers reliability, comfort, good value, and is handsomely a little different.
In the 1980s, Geoffrey White of acclaimed Hans Christian Yachts, decided a to expand into the trawler yacht market, but he wanted them to be built in the US. He searched for a like-minded builder, which led to a collaboration with Lee Cherubini, a renown perfectionist, of the Cherubini Boat Yard. And the Cherubini 45 was born.
She is a trawler that travels very economically between 6 to 8 knots, but also has the power to plane at up to 13 knots (depending on load). This capability is handy to scoot out of the way if for example; encountering needed course corrections around commercial traffic, running against strong currents, or simply getting to an anchorage before sunset.
Knight Star is one of only a handful of these romantic yet capable yachts. She is rare to market, shed kept, beloved by her owners, After 13 seasons, and thousands of miles, the owners have decided to move to a different design for their next adventures, making Knight Star available.
She is currently for sale in Vancouver, BC, and available for viewing on our sales dock at Coal Harbour Marina in downtown Vancouver.

This is the single engine version of the Cherubini 45, with a two stateroom, and two heads layout. Her long deep keel helps her track well, and her powerful bow thruster boosts confidence, and makes her incredibly manoeuvrable in any tight quarters.
The sole is traditional solid teak and holly, a mark of a proper yacht. The headliner is slatted wood panels, with a satin off white finish. This mix of dark and light is quite indicative of Northeast US boat building, and gives off a bright, cheerful, inviting feeling.
Down the accommodations companionway from the salon to the two cabins and two heads layout. Guest cabin to port, guest head opposite. Owners' cabin forward, with ensuite head.

The Dometic toilets are notably reliable. Each waste system is independent of the other with separate plumbing, tanks, pump outs, and macerators.
Enter the salon's custom interior through a wide (27") Dutch door from the cockpit. The salon is the full beam of the vessel, creating a generous living space. It is finished in an off white laminate, trimmed with varnished mahogany, and a teak and holly sole, so romantic and typical of traditional Northeast yacht building. Headroom in the salon is between 6' 6" and 6' 9".
The galley of the Cherubini 45 is very much a part of the salon layout. It is a deep U-shape with abundant storage and broad working spaces, suggesting that meal preparation can be part of the social activities on board.
The pilothouse is the command centre of Knight Star with an array of controls and instruments close at hand. Visibility is outstanding for operator and guests at the settee through large windows. Port and starboard doors bring crew to the side and foredecks, and give the operator even more visibility and control, especially useful when in tight quarters.
The cockpit is quite roomy with a broad transom door from the swim platform. The wide swim platform, and the wide transom door lead through the cockpit directly to the salon and galley, which is a great convenience when carrying provisions, loading children, or accommodating family and friends with limited mobility.
Knight Star is a striking yacht with a dark blue hull with white topsides. Polished aluminum and stainless railings and deck fittings means no exterior brightwork to maintain. The decks boats safety and ease of movement for crew for with high bulwarks, and high railings. Side decks start at the pilothouse doors, and are 22 to 24 inches wide, with molded in steps up to the boat deck. All around fender deployment access from the foredeck, boat deck, and cockpit.
The boat deck is accessed via molded in steps from the side deck, or from a ladder in the cockpit. It is approximately 150 square feet, which gives plenty of space for the tender, and all manner of crabbing gear and water toys.
Tender
Motive power is via a single 420 hp Cummins 6CTA 8.3M2 diesel engine, with 4,830 hours.
With the machinery space's heavy doors, dampening material, and lubricated thrust bearing, Knight Star is astoundingly quiet and vibration free.
