M/V Scapha is an 85’ luxury motor yacht of aluminum construction. She was extensively refit and modernized in 2002. Although 20+ years ago, Scapha shows extremely well. She has been professionally maintained and operated by captain and engineer, boathouse kept, and shows much younger.
Scapha is well suited for owner-operation, however captain/crew space is also available. She is US built, and will not attract duties or tariffs to US or Canadian purchasers.
The 2002 refit by Townsend Bay Marine in Port Townsend, included:
Built by Stephens Marine of Stockton, CA to an efficient Jack Hargrave design, Scapha boasts a unique Northwest heritage, and is perfectly set up for Northwest cruising. She offers go-anywhere luxury with reliable tested systems, and boasts exceptional fit and finish throughout. Scapha stands ready to cruise the Pacific NW, and to Alaska and beyond.
Unfortunately, these photos were taken on a rainy day in April. Rest assured, these teak decks are in excellent condition!

This section describes the general layout of Scapha. Details on these areas follow in their respective sections.
Board from a dock or tender to the swim platform aft, then through transom doors, port or starboard, to the vast cockpit.
Up steps to the enclosed California deck with a varnished boardroom style table that can seat twelve diners. There is a buffet aft with large sink, and a wet bar forward.
The cockpit, California decks, side decks and foredeck are clad in teak, which is in 9/10 condition (there are a few bungs missing).
From here, there are two entries to Scapha; through one door to the galley and salon four steps down. Or through another door, up to the pilothouse.
The main level, midships, features the galley and salon in an open floor plan. A substantial island and buffet separate the galley from the salon. The area is surrounded by large windows. The island is surrounded by a very well appointed L-shaped galley.
Forward of the galley is the lower salon, with built in furniture, storage drawers beneath. Here is plenty of comfortable lounging, the main entertainment centre, and it is one of the several gathering spaces on board.
Aft of the galley is a companionway down to two staterooms for guests and owners. The guest stateroom is to port, with a guest / day head to starboard, and further aft is the full beam owners’ stateroom, with a large private ensuite.
Back to the main level: Forward of the salon, on the port side, descend six steps to the forward accommodations foyer. The VIP guest cabin is forward, with three piece ensuite.
Aft in that foyer is another cabin for guests (or crew). Includes a private toilet and basin.
And aft of that through two water tight bulkhead doors, is the utility room and then the engine room, both with full stand up height. The machinery space is well laid out with good service access to all systems.
Back out to the California deck, and up to the pilothouse. Here are three Stidd chairs for operators and guests, as well as a settee and table for more guests. There is a wet bar to starboard, and a huge work station to port. Stairs aft lead up to the boat deck.

Forward of the galley, and central to is the salon, is a custom built-in settee for six or more, storage drawers under, and storage lockers all around
The galley is beautifully appointed, and is all-modern, offering the amenities of home, including Sub Zero refrigeration, and Gaggenau appliances, surrounded by abundant working spaces, ample refrigeration, and with dedicated storage throughout.
A central feature is the kitchen island with the built in stove top.
Up from the California deck is the pilothouse, helm, and lounge area. This area offers commanding views for operator and guests with three Stidd helm chairs, a large settee with table, a wet bar, and a generous work desk / chart table. More stairs up and aft lead through a door to the boat deck.
Up from the cockpit, port or starboard, enter the enclosed California deck, with more than ample storage including dedicated wet locker, cleaning supplies locker, wet bar, and aft bar with large sink.
Central to the space is a beautiful varnished teak table with protective cover. Surrounding the table is a built in settee facing aft, and six teak chairs facing forward and at each end.
Board Scapha’s cockpit from the swim platform through either of two transom doors port and starboard. Then from the cockpit, up steps on port or starboard, through teak doors to the California deck.
From the California deck, move forward port or starboard through teak wing doors to the side decks and foredeck. The teak cap rail, and railings are substantial, approximately 30” tall, for security and safety while moving about the vessel. The brightwork is in very good condition.
Aft and up from the flybridge is the working area, which carries the tender and davit system, custom aluminium deck boxes, and there is room for all manner of crab pots and water toys.
120VAC and 240VAC AC and 12VDC and 24VDC power services the yacht through circuit breaker panels with appropriate voltage and ampere gauges. 110VAC provided by shore connection, by either of two generator sets, and based on available house bank battery power, through the inverters.
At sea, the batteries are charged by engine or generator driven alternators, and while at a dock, by the inverters and chargers via shorepower.
Shorepower, on a Glendinning Cablemaster, is routed through isolation transformers, which separates the vessel’s electrical systems from the incoming AC power, eliminating galvanic corrosion.
At the entrance to the engine room is the utility room. It is accessed through a water tight door from the crew cabin.
The 2002 refit included two new Caterpillar 3412 E diesel engines rated at approximately 1,440 hp each. The machinery area was expanded during the refit, and it is an exceptionally well laid out, bright, and clean space, accessed by a water tight bulkhead door. Approximately 5,350 hours on the mains.
