Since their inception in 1979 Nordic Tugs have been synonyms with quality, reliability, dependability, craftsmanship, comfort, performance and efficiency. Designed by Lynn Senour, the 37 Nordic Tug shares many of the same features found in both its smaller and larger siblings. Refined and continually enhanced over the years the core elements have remained constant.
These features and many others combine for efficient performance and comfortable livability in a trawler design yacht. Nordic Tugs’ classic designs have withstood the test of time, and proudly continue to do so.
Passagemaker July 20, 2012 "The Growing Nordic Family"
The 37 was introduced in 1998. It always offered two staterooms, for cruising by families or two couples, and the two-stateroom model continues to be available.
There was a demand, however, for a roomier single stateroom. On the optional convertible 37, the master stateroom has 58 percent more floor space, and there's 83 percent more floor space in the shower. "That's a significant difference," Jim Cress- President Nordic Tugs says.
The bonus space, on the port side opposite the head, could be a day head, a huge hanging locker, an office or a utility room.
"It's the same 37-foot boat," Cress adds. "But it is a new product."
Entering the cockpit of Norna J via the swim platform and transom gate. There is an integrated deck box for the propane system, equipment storage racks and a specially moulded fender holder along with hatch access to a large lazarette and machinery space below. Portside is the ladder to the flybridge and upper deck, midship is the hinged door to enter the boats cabin.
Entering the salon there is a corner storage cabinet and an L-shaped settee with a hi-lo dining table to port. The settee converts to a double berth. To starboard is the fully equipped galley with propane stove and oven, fridge and freezer, microwave, corian counters, double sink, and ample storage in drawers and cupboards. Through out are carpeted floors, teak paneling, overhead grab rails, large windows with day and night shades behind teak valances.
Up three steps is the raised pilothouse with double bench seating, access doors both port and starboard, large chart table and dashboard, and the helm station with engine controls, instrumentation and navigational electronics.
Moving forward down three steps is a spacious companionway with access to the utility room to port and the head and shower compartment to starboard. Forward through separate lock off doors is the master stateroom with a queen size island berth, abundant storage in drawers, cabinets, two hanging lockers, along with a full length mirror, overhead hatch and opening portlights.
The raised pilothouse with 360 degree visibility and spacious bench seating enables comfortable year round cruising for the helmsman and all crew aboard. Port and starboard sliding doors provide easy access to the foredeck and side decks enabling ease of movement and added safety for line handling or when docking.
