Bide-a-wee, which mean “stay a while” is the perfect name for this well found vessel. Entering from the companionway in the cockpit you are met with a space that is not only functional but spacious and comfortable. The teak and holly floors along with the professional teak joinery create a classic atmosphere with the volume of a modern yacht.
To port of the companionway is a quarter berth, a prime spot for sleeping while underway or during long passages. To starboard of the quarter berth is the guest cabin with two single berths and an ensuite head with shower. There are two opening portholes, one in the head and another in the cabin which allow both light and air into the space.
Moving forward you pass over the engine access, with all floor boards removable there is excellent access to the top of the engine. Just to port of the engine is the galley. Perfectly designed for cooking in a sea, the snug, U-shaped galley has plenty of storage and is ergonomically placed. There is a large top loading fridge/freezer, three burner stove with oven and a microwave.
Moving forward there is a step down into the saloon. Just to starboard is the large nav table and a bench seat. There is plenty of room for chart work or to simply be working from home. The electrical panel is located on the starboard hull at the nav table and professionally laid out.
Just to port of the nav table is a secondary fridge along with a storage cabinet on the port hull which houses the 20 gallon hot water tank. The saloon is very spacious with a large opening hatch midships, a L shaped settee to port and another settee to starboard. There is plenty of storage to port and starboard as well as behind the settees for long distance cruising.
Moving forward into the main cabin there a double berth to port with an ensuite head to starboard. The head has a separate shower, vanity and marine toilet. Forward of the main cabin is the v-berth cabin. Currently used for storage, there is plenty of space for two adults or all your cruising equipment. Just forward is a large storage locker that also provides access to the anchor locker.
The U-shaped galley is designed perfectly for longer cruises. The tight space keeps you snug underway and the opening to the saloon add lots of coveted counter space along with storage below.
Bide-a-wee’s wiring was all done in 2006 and is professionally laid out and labeled. There is easy access behind the AC/DC panels.
With hydronic diesel heat throughout the boat including the heads along with the recent addition of a 20 gal H/W tank, Bide-a-wee is warm and comfortable at dock or at anchor.
Bide-a-wee has a comfortable and safe cockpit. Split into two sections, the after most section houses the pedestal and wheel with a teak grating on the sole. She has teak seating aft as well as forward. There are three medium size storage lockers for all your sailing gear.
Rigged in 2006 after arriving in Sidney, BC the owners spared no expense kitting out Bide-a-wee with top of the line rigging. Forespar mast and inboom furling make this sloop an easy to handle rig.
