Flying Colours feels right the moment one steps aboard. Fresh, bright, warm, elegant, richly detailed, opening up to the surrounding environment. She feels like new. The rich teak joinery throughout is elegant, and features an inlay detail and a furniture quality, hand rubbed finish. The large windows with tempered glass bath the interior spaces with light. Fresh carpet throughout (teak and holly sole in the galley and pilothouse), quiets the boat and softens the overall feel of the interior. Comfortable leather seating in the salon and pilothouse, gives open views of the surrounding harbour, while up top in the fully enclosed flybridge there is a commanding view of any seaway. The rich granite countertops in the galley and marble in the heads, brand name appliances and fixtures, combine to enhance the feel of quality creating a place one wants to spend time - as much time as possible. Specially separated for ease of access from the forward cabins, the master stateroom is accessed from the salon while the guest cabins from the pilothouse; all three cabins are sumptuous sleeping quarters featuring abundant storage and the comfort of custom mattresses, portlights for light and ventilation, cedar lined closets, and easy care shower liners combining to provide restful cabins for perfect on-the-water rest. Singularly perfect.
The salon is remarkably spacious, bright and laid out for lounging in comfort or lavish entertaining. The cockpit doors are framed glass, which, combined with the huge side and aft windows, bring the environment in to life aboard, with light and views in all directions. The galley forward is separated by a raised counter, leaving the galley work in the galley while entertaining, but still being very open to the salon space. Indeed, the salon/galley area is open to the pilothouse, increasing the sense of light, and inclusive space. A corner entertainment system in the salon includes Sharp Aquos and Bose equipment and feeds TVs and speakers throughout the vessel.
The galley is open to the pilothouse and salon, it is bright and airy, finished in the same exquisite teak and features a granite counter top and a raised granite divider to the salon. The drawer style dishwasher is quiet and efficient and close by the two stainless steel sinks featuring a high end tap set and waste disposal to reduce onboard garbage. Note the custom glass holders in the overhead lockers, to secure glasses when underway. The full size, double door fridge is household size, yet unobtrusive, and holds an abundance of supplies, and is so easy to access. The perfect galley. A stainless steel barbecue mounts to a custom fitting in one of the stainless steel staples on the swim grid.
The pilothouse features two Stidd helm seats, side door access to either side deck, a companionway forward to the guest cabins, a companionway, with non skid surface, up to the enclosed flybridge, a bar area and a hi-low table and L-settee with a spectacular view ahead. Visibility is exceptional from the helm seats, including looking aft to either side of the vessel. The navigation systems shall be covered below.
There are two companionways to access the accommodation below. The first is across from the galley, and leads down steps, past storage and laundry cabinets to the master cabin featuring an ensuite head and shower. The second leads forward from the starboard side of the pilothouse, to the VIP guest cabin, with queen berth forward and the third guest cabin to port, with stacked bunk berths and a desk. There is also a fine head and shower stall with lock off access from both the VIP cabin and the hallway. The master cabin and VIP cabins both feature TVs and sound systems, connected to the salon system. The master cabin features two hanging lockers and abundant drawer storage. This cabin is sumptuous, being the full width of the hull, elegantly proportioned and well designed. There is also emergency access to the pilothouse.
The remarkable flybridge is much more spacious than one might expect for several reasons: the bridge is the full width of the hull, not just the upper deck such that the space includes the width of the side deck overhangs. The hardtop also covers the same width and all the way forward to the extent of the venturi maximizing the sense of space. The hardtop is quite magnificent, the hatches provide light and ventilation and feature sliding screens and sunshades, all held up by massive stainless steel supports. The aft, vertical enclosure panels slide in tracks, leading out to the boat deck. There is a sink, fridge and locker that is set to the starboard side. Two Stidd seats provide a commanding view. The navigation systems are logically laid out, as are the instruments and controls.
The engine room features one of the most desirable factory upgrades - 800hp engines - the 3406E Caterpillars - with electronic engines with Twin Disc gears, Glendinning electronic controls, with synchronization and trolling valves and world wide service from Caterpillar. This space is immaculate and features special touches such as the tied off emergency tiller ready at hand, bright lighting, and modified Northern Lights genset sound shield to ease regular checks and regular service. The owners’ objective has been to rigorously follow the manufacturer's requirements for service with a view to preventative care, the objective being trouble free boating.
A rare element of the navigation system is that it was designed, and CAD drawn as an integrated system. The chart plotters have been replaced recently with Raymarine units.
