It all started when a family friend took me sailing when I was just six and I was hooked… An avid boater for most of my life! As a young teenager I lived in Ucluelet on Vancouver Island’s wild West Coast, and later worked as a deck hand on a commercial troller. Over the years I have had a number of sailboats from dingies to keelboats and have taken every opportunity to race and cruise our beautiful coast.
After thirty years in the bicycle business, I retired in 2008 and I was able to spend more and more time with my boat, and getting to know a number of wonderful people in the marine industry. So one day a yacht broker asked if I would deliver a sailboat from Vancouver to Sidney and the rest, as they say, is history. I started doing more and more deliveries throughout the Northwest between Puget Sound, and Campbell River. It gave me the opportunity to experience a wide variety of new and used sail and power boats ranging from 25 to 55 feet. Last fall I had a couple of opportunities to sail the new Beneteau Oceanis 41.1 in a variety of conditions and was so impressed that I actually considered buying one for myself. So shortly into the new year, I did just that.
